The frequently asked question about oats would be: what are the differences among the different types of oats?
There are 3 main types of oats commonly seen on Singapore supermarkets' shelves:
1) rolled oats
regular/ordinary oats. these are very hardy and can be used in recipe for that extra crunch. would require longer cooking time than quick-cooking or instant oats.
2) quick-cooking oats
these are rolled oats that have been sliced/cut into smaller pieces so that they are easier to cook with more surface area. nutrition value will be the same for rolled, quick-cooking and instant.
3) instant oats
these oats are quick-cooking oats that have been futher sliced/cut so they cook really quickly i.e. by just adding hot water and allow to sit for 2 minutes before stirring and enjoying it for a quick oats breakfast/snack.

The other common question about oats would be: what's so good about oats?
You see, when we eat oats, they go into our body and act as tiny sponges. These sponges soak up the bad cholesterol and get rid of it from our body. Having oats on a regular basis could lower the amount of bad cholesterol in your body, promoting better heart health for you.

This recipe uses flaxseeds and chia seeds, which are really good sources of good fats (polyunsaturated fats: omega 3) and dietary fibre. If you'd like, you can also replace them with sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds etc, creativity is the key! So enjoy these yummy oat balls ---
